Silkeborg-Voel KFUM – HØJ Elite 28-32 (17-19)
After the final whistle against the green-shirted side from Silkeborg-Voel, a break of more than a month and a half awaited before our liga women would be back in action.
That made it a big afternoon for our favourites over in Jutland on Saturday.
A win would deliver a huge confidence boost and – not least – two extremely important points for the tally. Two things that could very much be carried into 2026 on a high.
And what a performance it turned out to be – from start to finish, which also put a smile on head coach Kristian Kristensen's face when he reflected on the effort afterwards:
“The win was well deserved and hugely important on several fronts. For example, we've struggled with our finishing, and with it our scoring rate, in plenty of games. Here the girls hit a high level on the many open chances created in our 7-against-6 play. In the second half Martina Thörn lit up the court and was a major reason we were able to keep Silkeborg-Voel at arm's length.”
Beyond Martina Thörn's outstanding effort – which produced an impressive save percentage of 66.67 (8 of 12) – it was once again Emma Navne who, with her tireless fighting spirit, called the tune and finished as the game's clear top scorer with a full 10 goals.
On the wing, young Matilde Dalbo Kirkegaard also impressed with five assured finishes over the course of the match.
A break now awaits for most of the squad – though our talented Faroese international, Marita Mortensen, is off to the World Championship with the Faroe Islands.
