HØJ Elite (w) – Nykøbing Falster Håndbold: 24-36 (12-17)
It was the first test for HØJ Elite's newly promoted Liga women, as the strong Nykøbing Falster Håndbold visited Ølstykke-Hallen for Friday's sold-out double-header. And even though it ended in a clear defeat, there were still several elements of the match that head coach Kristian Kristensen was pretty happy with.
"We got to work on our play-book – just as planned – including our defence, which was put under maximum pressure. Among others from Cecilie Bjerre, who did really well. It was a good and instructive match for us, and we also got to practise a couple of attacking moves. There were some good moments along the way that we can definitely take with us going forward.
As for our opponents, there honestly wasn't all that much that surprised us, because we knew full well that we were up against a really good Liga side. That showed in particular in the final quarter of an hour, where the difference was significant.
On top of that, we have to remember that this was just the very first tentative start to our pre-season matches – and now we're looking forward to our training camp in Sweden later this week – where several exciting and useful matches await.
And I also just have to say that this was an absolutely outstanding event at Ølstykke-Hallen. I'm very impressed by the setting that was created and put together. I can't recall having experienced anything like it before for a test match. Really great work – not least by all of our volunteers – who simply grafted away from morning till night. That's something we can be really proud of here at HØJ".
