HØJ Elite – SønderjyskE 33-29 (14-15)

The HØJ Elite women radiated "Togetherness and Community in a Class of Its Own" in front of the roughly 1,500 delighted handball enthusiasts from the HØJ family who had made their way to the impressive Farum Arena on Thursday evening.

Even though the opening was a tough one and the scoreboard read 8-13 to the visitors after 21 minutes, the girls never threw in the towel. Quite the opposite — they fought from start to finish.

Six minutes later, everything had been turned completely on its head, as a superb Marita Mortensen levelled at 13-13 after five HØJ Elite goals in a row.

It got even better in the second half, and when player of the match and outright top scorer Emma Navne (11 goals) hammered the ball into the net after 38 minutes to make it 19-18, the well-fighting side from Sønderjylland never led again.

In goal, young Sørine Wolf made her season debut, and she delivered a top-level performance, playing a big part in turning the game our way when it was hanging in the balance.

Overall it was a fine collective effort, where everyone chipped in and secured us our first-ever win in the Bambuni Kvindeligaen. Huge congratulations to the HØJ Elite women.

In the match immediately afterwards, things went less well in the local derby against a skilled Nordsjælland Håndbold, who took the 2 points with a well-deserved 34-27 victory.
