HØJ ELITE WOMEN IMPRESSED IN THEIR DEBUT SEASON

On 31 August 2025, the HØJ Elite women took to the court for the first league match in the club's history. It was a journey that had already gathered pace the season before, when the team beat promotion favourites Holstebro Håndbold (now Nordvestjysk Elite) away from home in the opening game.
That very match in Holstebro kicked off a sensational season in which belief in their own abilities grew week by week. With five rounds still to play, HØJ Elite's top women's team could celebrate promotion to the Håndboldligaen for the very first time.
A good eight months later, the debut season in the country's top division is safely behind them — and crowned by a comfortable overall win in the qualification round.
The season served up tough opposition from some of Europe's absolute top clubs, a strong winning streak and, not least, an unexpected but fully deserved away win against Viborg HK.
There's therefore no doubt that the league women haven't just thrilled the entire HØJ family — they've also caused a stir throughout Danish handball.
Head coach Kristian Kristensen has spent some time in the "evaluation room" with his staff, and the conclusion is clear: Pass!
"Patience was one of the key words when we started out, and after a period of getting settled, the learning curve climbed nicely towards the end of the season. It all culminated when we won the qualification round, which corresponds to a fine 9th place.
Besides patience, it was the group's ability to come out stronger from the spells when adversity reared its head. Preaching trust as the foundation for the best performances is one thing — training and maintaining it consistently is another. Here the girls have been excellent.
I'd also like to send a big shout-out to our staff, who had a hugely positive impact all year, just as the club has backed the expansion of the expertise around the team.
