After going it alone with the coaching job since the start of the season, HØJ Elite's head coach Nicolaj Andersson now gets some backup on the sideline, as Thomas Jørgensen steps in as assistant coach for the rest of this season.

Thomas Jørgensen is a familiar face at HØJ, as he is already head coach of the men's 2. division team. Head of sport Hans Lindberg is looking forward to Thomas Jørgensen now becoming part of the 1. division team as well.

"We're in the slightly special situation that we already know Stefan Madsen and Nicolaj Andersson will form the coaching team from the summer of 2027. That's why we've spent some time looking for the right coaching profile who can support Nicolaj this season, but who would also be ready to sign a short-term deal," says Hans Lindberg, who continues:

"Since August, Thomas Jørgensen has been attached to HØJ as head coach of our men's team in the 2. division, and Thomas has everything it takes to also handle tasks for the 1. division squad. Fortunately, Thomas is ready to put a bit more time into the pot and assist Nicolaj and the team for the rest of this season. We're really pleased about that."

An experienced coach who knows HØJ

Thomas Jørgensen brings plenty of experience as a men's coach in the divisions, having previously coached at clubs such as TIK Taastrup, Team Sydhavsøerne, Næstved and TMS Ringsted.

"I'm really happy to have come to HØJ; it's an ambitious but also very close-knit club. So of course I was ready to help out with the men's 1. division team too when Nicolaj and the club asked me about the opportunity. It's a really exciting job, and I'm very much looking forward to getting started and getting to know the players and staff."

Thomas Jørgensen has previously been a 1. division coach at HØJ as an assistant to Lars Nedergaard. Alongside his club coaching, Thomas Jørgensen is a coach on the handball programme at Gunslevholm Idrætsefterskole.

Thomas Jørgensen will be presented to the whole HØJ family when he takes up his new role on the sideline for Sunday's home game.
