HØJ Elite – Fredericia HK 20-13 (34-26)
What looked on paper like a particularly tight and evenly matched affair turned into something completely different on Saturday afternoon in Ølstykke-Hallen.
The HØJ Elite men simply kept rolling on the wave from their recent matches, which meant the game was, bluntly put, already decided after the first quarter.
With the score at 13-5 after 18 minutes, virtually all the tension had been deflated – in one of the best matches HØJ Elite has ever played.
The challenge against the physically strong Fredericia players was handled superbly, while there was also good variation in the attacking waves at the other end of the court – which in the first half alone produced no fewer than 20 goals.
Damgaard was flying, Schønningsen powered through with his well-known fighting heart, Klimpke continued in the style from the match in Grindsted, while Fingren delivered a defensively perfect performance at an absolute top level – again!

On top of that, there was plenty to work with for Tobias Nielsen on the wing, who repaid the faith with 7 goals, while Jonathan Svensson put in a strong showing and played his best match in the HØJ shirt to date.
There was also a debut for the rock-solid Andreas Nielsen, who delivered strongly in defence, while the youngsters Lauge Hemmingsen and Mikkel Olsen showed great quality and a clear joy for the game.
The only slight blot on an otherwise perfect team performance came for the crowd after 23 minutes of play, when Kassem Awad was shown a blue card.
A ruling that was, incidentally, withdrawn after the final whistle, meaning our in-form line player is once again available for the upcoming round of fixtures.
Off the court, it was great to feel the wonderful backing from the stands, where the fan zone was packed with HØJ's brilliant youth members, while the season ticket holders in section 3 – with their energetic support – kept up their fantastic efforts on the terraces.
