NIGHT AND DAY FOR THE HØJ ELITE WOMEN AGAINST NFH

HØJ Elite – NFH 24-30 (6-16)
There wasn't much to suggest that tonight's clash against NFH in Ølstykke-Hallen would turn into a thriller when the buzzer sounded for the final time after the opening 30 minutes.
Very little clicked in the first half, and trailing 6-16 at the break, the game looked decided.
What was said in the dressing room at half-time we'll leave unsaid – but it certainly did the trick.
The HØJ Elite women looked like a completely different side and delivered what was probably one of the best, if not the best, half of the season so far.
So much came off in the first 15 minutes after the break, and the visitors' 10-goal lead was quickly slashed in this phase of the match.
After 43 minutes, NFH's lead had shrunk to just 3 goals at 16-19, and with barely five minutes to go you still felt we were in it, as the away side had only stretched things slightly to 22-26.
Despite a tremendous fight, there was nothing more to come in the closing stages, and so it all ended in a 30-24 win for the league leaders from Nykøbing Falster.
Julie Persson put in an outstanding shift at both ends of the court and played her best game in the HØJ shirt to date. Emily Sando also had a superb night in the HØJ goal, pulling off one stunning save after another, while the ever-fighting Emma Navne battled away energetically as usual.
The second half – and especially the first 20 minutes – simply has to give us positive promise for the future, because the effort was nothing short of tremendous.
We thank the HØJ family for the dazzling support in the stands.
The league women can now look ahead to the year's final task, when they head out on the road against Silkeborg-Voel on 15 November.
Top scorer for HØJ Elite was Emma Navne with 8 goals, while player of the match – Julie Persson – was credited with 5 fine strikes.
