COMFORTABLE WIN OVER RIBE-ESBJERG CREATES IMPORTANT MOMENTUM

HØJ Elite – Ribe-Esbjerg HH 39-25 (21-13)
This was a solid and more than convincing team performance in Sunday's clash with Ribe-Esbjerg. There was fire in the eyes from the very first whistle until the buzzer sounded for the last time in Ølstykke-Hallen.
The pressure on the visitors was kept up throughout the entire match, and there's no doubt that this big win gives an important and welcome boost ahead of the tasks to come.
For the second game running, Simen Schønningsen showed that he's well on his way back, once again proving a constant threat in attack, while Sweden's Kassem Awad was flying and delivered a clinically sharp display, going "eight from eight".
On top of that, it was once again a pleasure to watch our young talents, who treated the crowd to an enormous fighting spirit and sheer joy for the game.
Lauge Hemmingsen was strong at both ends of the court and, as always, looked impressively mature in every facet of the game. Yet another complete effort from our talented number 4.
Marius Ptak also got a good chunk of playing time out on the wing and earned one of the afternoon's biggest ovations when he entered the court. He promptly thanked the fans for their support by scoring confidently on both of his attempts.
At the back, the defence shut things down impressively, giving both Till Klimpke, who stood for most of the match, and Emil Kheri Imsgard the conditions to post strong save percentages. (Klimpke: 40.54% – 15 saves & Imsgard: 66.67% – 4 saves)
On Saturday 25 April, Sønderjyske awaits in the final match of the qualification play-offs, as the league men make the trip to Aabenraa. After that, we'll face either KIF Kolding or Aarhus Håndbold in a series of up to three games for the last spot in Håndboldligaen for the 2026/27 season.
The first game is scheduled for Sunday 3 May in Ølstykke-Hallen, while the second is played away on Wednesday 6 May. A potential third game will be played at home on 9 or 10 May.
