STRONG SPELLS IN THE LOCAL DERBY WEREN'T ENOUGH!
NORDSJÆLLAND HÅNDBOLD – HØJ ELITE 35-30 (15-17)
The final league match of the year turned into a genuine rollercoaster ride with both ups and downs, which sadly ended without any points in the end.
The home side started best and quickly raced into a 5-2 lead, before the HØJ defence settled and we were soon able to level things up. From there the teams kept pace at 9-9, after which the HØJ Elite men delivered the best spell of the match, winning it 6-1.
15-10 to HØJ Elite after 24 minutes – and everything looked very promising at this stage of the contest.
The hosts weren't done, though, and clawed their way back before the break. With HØJ leading 17-15 going into the final 30 minutes, spirits were still high among the many fans who had turned out from the HØJ family.
The second half began promisingly, and the lead was still in HØJ hands after 40 minutes of play.
After that, Nordsjælland Håndbold unfortunately produced the decisive surge, going from 23-23 to 29-24 in just a few minutes, after which the match was effectively settled.
A frustrating defeat for a hard-fighting but injury-hit HØJ side, who genuinely had a chance at points along the way.
On the plus side, Michael Damgaard was once again the outstanding top scorer, this time with 11 goals, while Tobias Nielsen also played a fine game out on the wing. Hans Lindberg was razor-sharp from the penalty line once more – an art our world star masters to perfection.
Last but not least, a big thank you goes out to our fantastic HØJ community, who once again showed real class on the road. We could hear your support throughout the entire match. Thank you so much, friends!
