TOBIAS NIELSEN'S BIG GAME WASN'T ENOUGH AGAINST A STRONG GOG

The 1/8 final in the cup tournament proved to be the end of the road for the HØJ Elite men, as a skilful GOG side came to visit Ølstykke-Hallen on Sunday afternoon.

"Fast feet," as The Minds of 99 sing on their 2014 debut album, was among the things the Funen outfit brought along – in a game that was effectively decided in the final quarter of the first half.

At 5-6 after fourteen minutes of play, GOG hit the turbo and won the rest of the period up to the break 11-4.

Down 9-17 things looked tough, but a resurgence early in the second half gave us renewed hope. In the first ten minutes we clawed our way massively back into it against the visitors and actually had the chance to get within three at 18-22.

That chance went begging, and instead the visitors banged in "five quick ones" to make it 18-27. After that we put a bit of gloss on the scoreline, which ended in a deserved 26-32 win for GOG.

A superb Tobias Nielsen was deservedly named "Man of the Match" by today's match partner, NTD. Our talented right wing scored seven times, sharing top scorer honours with Swede Linus Arnesson, who was credited with the same tally.

The next task for the league men is Thursday's game at Farum Arena, where Skjern Håndbold come to visit.
