IMPORTANT WIN OVER KIF KOLDING IN FIRST QUALIFIER

HØJ Elite – KIF Kolding: 30-21 (15-10)
It was a bunch of seriously motivated HØJ players who took the court on Sunday evening at Ølstykke-Hallen for the first league qualifier against KIF Kolding.
The scoreboard read 7-2 after 10 minutes of play, and it was quite the dream start for the home side, who swung between leads of four and seven goals for the rest of the opening thirty minutes. There was a huge battle at both ends of the court, while the will and the fighting spirit shone out of the HØJ players.
It all played out in a fantastic atmosphere and an inferno of noise that underlined the importance of the game.
The visitors closed the gap in the second half, but the alarm bells stayed silent, and the nine-goal win was a reality when the buzzer sounded for the final time.
The match was marked by a determined and collectively strong effort from the HØJ players, with Till Klimpe putting in one of his best performances in a HØJ shirt. A save percentage of over 52 (22 saves) – that's what our German goalkeeper served up. Deeply impressive.
Pretty much every outfield player got on the scoresheet, Tobias Nielsen finished as top scorer with 7 goals, while Simen Schønningsen chipped in with 5.
Head coach Anders Thomsen:
"The arrow is still pointing in the right direction, both in terms of play and quality. But even though we win today, we're well aware that Wednesday will be a different game in a new setting. We've got faith in ourselves, though, and we're going for the league ticket in Kolding. And should that not happen against expectations, then of course we're ready to invite everyone to a promotion party on home court on Sunday."
