HØJ Elite – EH Aalborg: 36-25 (18-11)

It was a bunch of top-motivated league women who stepped onto the court at Ølstykke-Hallen on Wednesday night – and the many celebrating members of the HØJ family were treated to a real spectacle up in the stands.

A genuine dream start of 7-0 after ten minutes were the bare facts, and that impressive opening kicked off a fantastic performance in which the team came across as a rock-solid, tightly-knit unit.

What spirit, joy and fighting will – all spiced up with several outstanding individual performances along the way.

Head coach Kristian Kristensen:

“We're proud of the performance against EH Aalborg. Winning is one thing, but the way it's executed is another – and this was truly disciplined. The icing on the cake is, of course, that we're now qualified for the league again. This comes after a strong regular season and with just a single win in the qualification round! So we've crossed the finish line, but we'll press on undeterred in our pursuit of more development and more points in the coming matches.”

Emma Navne was deservedly named player of the match, while a brilliant Emily Sando in goal (40% in open play) along with the hard-shooting Anne Cathrine Lundbye, Liv Navne and Julie Persson all sparkled with several fine goals.

It was also a pleasure to watch the lightning-fast Mia Rej and the hard-fighting Filippa Nedovic, who likewise delivered a couple of strong performances.

Even though the league spot for next season is now secured, there are still three matches left in the qualification round – starting Saturday away to Ringkøbing. The next home game is Sunday 3 May, when the league women host Silkeborg-Voel and the men face either KIF Kolding or Aarhus Håndbold.
