INCREDIBLE ATMOSPHERE FOR THE LEAGUE DEBUT AT ØLSTYKKE-HALLEN

Even though the result didn't turn out the way we'd hoped, the support and atmosphere at Ølstykke-Hallen was absolutely outstanding – downright electric at times during the match.

It was hugely impressive to witness and experience, and we'd like to send a big, heartfelt THANK YOU for the fantastic effort up in the stands.

On the court we got a dramatic premiere, including a straight red card for Kassem Awad – an unfortunate setback for our talented line player.

Despite a tough start, we had several good chances to fight our way back and level Mors/Thy's leads along the way, including at 18-19, and again in the closing stages, where we won the final nine minutes or so 7-2.

Although it was a strong finish, it unfortunately wasn't enough to claim any points against a skilful, fast-running and hard-working Mors/Thy side, who we congratulate on the win after a great fight.

For HØJ Elite, Norway's Tom Kåre Nikolaisen was in a class of his own and put in a huge performance, which is why he was also fully deservedly named “man of the match” afterwards.

Head coach Stian Tønnesen on the league debut:

“The match didn't develop the way we'd hoped. We didn't hit our level, and that's obviously something we need to work on. On the other hand, I have to say the support in the hall was fantastic. It means a great deal to all of us that we have such a brilliant and loyal home crowd who always back us in the best possible way.”

Next up for the HØJ Elite men is the away game against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. The clash is played on Sunday 7 September at 20:00 at JYSK Arena Silkeborg.
